Marketplace – "A Bibletimes Experience" is a Bible era village involving children, youth, and adults is held the last Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of June. For 2010, Marketplace will be held on June 22 - 24 . Over 300 children, youth, and adults participate each year in this event with leadership from numerous surrounding churches of all denominations. Marketplace is an inter-generational Bible times village where all ages experience learning the Bible for themselves  with "hand's-on" opportunities.  It is not only for children and youth to learn, but also for the adults to experience and learn the Bible as well.

Marketplace activity In 2010 the theme will be "Genesis - In The Beginning", focusing on creation, fall of man, and Noah, all based on the first nine chapters of Genesis..

Memorization verses are: Genesis 1:1; Psalm 139:14; Genesis 6:8 with bonus verses of Genesis 2:7; Colossians 1:16 and Genesis 9:14.
Do you understand what Genesis 3:15 means? The youth will be looking at this verse and how it relates to mankind.
Remember that Genesis builds a foundation that we will be building on each year at Marketplace.

This year we will have a “Wandering Prophet” located near the Campfire circle beyond the pond. Groups will head in the direction at their designated time and the “prophet” will locate them and lead them to his location for the day.

Our project this year will be the Heifer Project and coins will be collected for the project.

Marketplace activity In 2009 the theme was "The Early Church", beginning at Pentacost with the coming of God's Holy Spirit and going through the imprisonments of Peter and Paul for their faith. We also looked at the lives of Lydia and Timothy and the part they played in the spread of the Gospel. Day one focused on "Power To Be A Dsiciple" and we learned about Peter. Day two focused on "Growing As A Christian" and we met Lydia. Day three we met Timothy and learned about Paul's admonishment to "...run the race with endurance". The 2009 Program Schedule will be available for your viewing, and printing if you wish.

In 2008 the theme was "MESSIAH - His Childhood, His Ministry, His Mission " as we focus on Jewish customs, culture, and celebrations that played an important role in the life of Jesus. Click on the link for a document displaying the many Names of Jesus. Special focus was on the Jewish celebration of Pasover and how this affected Jesus' life. Each group had a scheduled time of sharing in the celebration of Passover. For lunch on the last day, we ate a typical passover meal. Click for an image of Palestine In The Time Of Jesus. For our outreach project we collected money for one of our UMC Conference Volunteer in Missions projects. Memorization this year focused on learning the books of the New Testament and the names of the 12 Disciples.
man with staff In 2007 the theme was "Sing Unto the Lord A New Song" and we began with the pain and sorrow of the Exile. Our studies then took us thru the abduction of Daniel, the re-establishing of the Temple in Jerusalem, the return of the Jews led by Ezra, the rebuilding of the walls around Jerusalem led by Nehemiah, and the study of a young Jewish orphan girl named Esther. The Books of Ezra and Nehemiah both deal with the Jews return to Jerusalem, the rebuilding of the Temple, and the city wall and gates. The books also recount the difficulties and challenges which faced the Jews who chose to leave comfortable Babylon and return to the Jewish homeland. Ester is one of the most unusual books in the Bible. It tells us of a young Jewish woman who becomes Queen of Persia just in time to save God's people from extermination. This will end our study of the Old Testament. Next year we will move into the New Testament. For our outreach project we will be collecting money for one of our UMC Conference Volunteer in Missions projects in East Africa. Memorization this year will focus on learning the books of the Old Testament. Scriptures for this year are: Daniel 1 - 6; Esther 1 - 10; Nehemiah 1 - 6, 8 - 9; Psalm 137:1 - 4; Psalm 33:3; Psalm 98:1; and Isaiah 51:11.
Moses with Dove In 2006 the theme was "Growing in Faithfulness" and focused on the time frame from the death of Moses to the exile as the Children of Israel enter the Promised Land under the leadership of Joshua, one of the "faithful."  We learned about Rahab and the part she played in the Battle of Jericho and how she became an ancestor of David and Jesus (Matthew 1:5).  Then we focused on the book of Ruth set chronologically in the midst of the dark years of the judges.  Ruth is a love story between a Gentile woman and the God of Israel whom she chose to serve.  We learned that "when others see a shepherd boy, God may see a king," as we studied the life of a boy who slew the giant Goliath and was later anointed king and served forty years. Although David made mistakes and sinned, he became a "man after God's own heart."  His expression of love for his God is found in the Twenty-third Psalm. Day 1 will cover Joshua. Day 2 will cover Ruth. Day 3 will cover David. The Outreach project for that year's camp was Samaritan's Purse - Operation Christmas Child.
Tabernacle Drawing on a small scale In 2005, the theme was the Tabernacle – God’s Dwelling Place. This covered the history that led us through Genesis and into Exodus – Shem, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, with his 12 sons, who ended up in Egypt, and eventually slavery. Over 400 years later God heard their cry to be released from bondage and called a man named Moses to lead the men, women, children, and animals from Egypt back to the land He promised to Abraham. This culminated in the construction of the Tabernacle. An individual consented to bring their completed, scale model of the Tabernacle for the campers to view. The Queen as Story Teller In 2004 we began the 6 year cycle with our focus in Genesis - The Beginnings. This study began with the creation, creation and the fall of mankind, and ended with Noah and the flood.
